Hey Sweat Fam,

I’m Kristy — your friendly Friday night Barre Queen and this week’s featured instructor here at Sweat Studios!

A Funny Story About How I Joined Sweat

I actually met Kristian ages ago up at his other gym, but between clients, classes, and #momlife, I never quite found the time to connect. When I heard Sweat was opening, I told myself I’d stop by… but, well, life.

Then one day, my partner gifted me a massage downtown (hero move 😎). As fate would have it, I found a parking spot right on Lawrence — and noticed Sweat was celebrating its one-year birthday!

I peeked inside and, surprise — my daughter’s Grade 2 teacher, the amazing Natalia, was there teaching a class! She waved me in, we caught up, and next thing I knew, she asked if I could sub a few classes while she was away that summer.

The owners overheard and said, “Absolutely — we’d love to have you!” And just like that, I became part of the Sweat family.

F

rom day one, I felt so welcomed — the laughter, the energy, the beautiful space, and most of all, the people. I started covering a bunch of classes until I finally settled into my happy place: Friday Night at the Barre (save your spot here). I love every sweaty, sparkly minute of it — and I sub whenever I can (because let’s be honest, mom life requires flexibility 😉).

What’s next…

Stay tuned — I’ll soon be rolling out some personal training programs right here at the studio! And for my longtime students — the workshops I’ve been promising are finally happening!

Kristy's Top 3 Fitness Tips

  1. Move daily. If you only have 10 minutes, do 10 minutes. You’ll be amazed at how your attitude improves and how your body thanks you.

  2. Be gracious with yourself. We all have to start somewhere. Stop thinking “I have to be in shape to go to the gym” — that’s the biggest lie I’ve ever heard. The gym is where you get in shape, not the reward for already being there.

  3. Creatine is your friend. I avoided it for years because I thought it was just for bodybuilders. But what I actually am is a muscle machine — and my biggest muscle is my brain. Creatine supports both physical and mental performance, and spoiler: I’m still not “bulky.”
